"Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore on Thursday made official his longshot candidacy for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, saying the crowded field lacked a bona fide conservative in the mold of former President Ronald Reagan.
Gilmore, who formed an “exploratory” committee in January, said in Des Moines that the 2008 White House race “needs a candidate who is a true Reagan conservative” and “someone that won’t waffle, waver or change.”"
