People's Daily Online: Nepal to launch e-government

Excerpt:
"Nepali government is soon to come up with a five-year master plan on e-government to enhance efficiency of public administration and ensure transparency in bureaucracy, local media reported Thursday.

The comprehensive plan -- the final draft of which has been prepared by the High Level Commission for Information Technology (HLCIT) in collaboration with Korean IT Industry Promotion Agency ( KIPA) -- will be implemented between 2007 and 2011 after seeking approval of the cabinet.

Madan K Pariyar, member secretary of HLCIT, told local website eKantipur.com that the successful execution of the plan will help create citizen-centric and transparent bureaucratic system, improve productivity of civil servants and strengthen linkage between government and people and various state organs."
