I suspect one could find similar attempts by EVERY campaign to use the internet as a promotional tool. It's not like people are tampering with the front page of the Wall Street Journal - since when is Digg or any other rating tool considered to be holy (or even accurate)? I think that kind of noise all cancels itself out.
