Iraqi police chief's children kidnapped - Times Online
Excerpt:
"Gunmen burst into the house of a senior Iraqi policeman last night, murdering his wife and brother and abducting his three children.
The twelve bodyguards protecting the home of Colonel Ali al-Jurani, the Baquba police chief, were also massacred.
Baquba is in the Diyala province, which has seen intense fighting between al-Qaeda affiliated groups, US soldiers and Iraqi insurgents that have turned against al-Qaeda. Part of the ongoing military “surge” saw an additional 3,000 US troops dispatched to the province north of Baghdad, considered a hotbed of Sunni militancy."
