Ron Paul’s Q-2 Fund-Raising Boost - New York Times Blog
Excerpt:
"“Some of the candidates are on the down slope; we’re on the upslope. We feel good about what’s happening,” Mr. Paul said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos that will be broadcast on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.
Mr. Paul’s fund-raising for the second-quarter still puts him well under the $11.2 million that Mr. McCain raised. But, Jesse Benton, communications director for the Paul campaign, pointed out that Mr. Paul’s total represented a four-fold increase from the first three months of the year when the campaign took in about $640,000.
Mr. Benton estimated that more than half of the $2.4 million Mr. Paul raised last quarter came from the Internet and small donors, which he said was a reflection of the grassroots nature of the campaign. He said that Mr. Paul enjoyed particularly deep support among tech-savvy younger voters. (That’s pretty clear from the ways in which they’ve been able to ramp up figures on Technorati searches and online polls.) "
